Using the app

How do I send an anonymous confession?

Open the app → tap "Send a Secret Confession" → enter the recipient's phone number → set the number of guess chances → tap "Create Confession." You'll then receive a secret message link to forward to them.

How do I know if my message was read?

You can activate the "Read Receipt" feature using Ruby gems or by inviting 3 friends to the app. This feature tells you whether the recipient has opened the Cloze app — not whether they guessed correctly.

How long does a confession stay active?

All confessions automatically expire 7 days after creation. After expiration, all associated data (including the hashed phone number) is permanently deleted.

Can I send more than one confession?

You can have up to 3 active (pending) confessions at a time. Once a confession expires or completes, you can create a new one.

What are Ruby gems?

Ruby gems are Cloze's in-app currency used to unlock premium features like additional guess chances and read receipts. You can purchase them in the app via the Ruby Store.

Account & privacy

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account Management → Delete Account. Your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted within 30 days. This action cannot be undone.

What data does Cloze collect?

We collect your email (via social login), date of birth, phone number (for verification), and app usage data. Recipient phone numbers are never stored in plain text — they are hashed and deleted after 7 days. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

I received a message I didn't expect. What do I do?

Visit our About This Message page to learn what happened, opt out of future messages, or request data deletion.

I'm in the EU. How do I exercise my GDPR rights?

Email privacy@getcloze.com or our DPO at dpo@getcloze.com. We will respond within 30 days (1 month as required by GDPR).

Payments & refunds

Can I get a refund for Ruby gems?

In-app purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Refund requests are subject to their respective refund policies. For billing issues, contact the store directly or email contact@getcloze.com.

My payment went through but I didn't receive my Ruby gems.

Please restart the app first — purchases sometimes take a moment to sync. If the issue persists, email contact@getcloze.com with your transaction ID.
